Flatiron Health today announced that Jason Harinstein, former Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Groupon, has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer and member of the company’s Executive Committee. Based in New York, Jason will be responsible for Flatiron’s finances, accounting, sales operations and investor relations organizations and will continue building the sustainable financial foundation for the company’s growth. Jason will report directly to Flatiron CEO and Co-Founder Nat Turner.

Since March 2011, Jason served as Groupon’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and a member of their senior executive team, prior to the company’s initial public offering. At Groupon, Jason was responsible for the company’s strategic activities, including building the company’s M&A, integration and strategic opportunities teams.

“Jason has a proven track record of leading companies through phases of growth, leveraging his financial insight and operational expertise,” said Nat Turner. “In addition to being an experienced startup and technology executive, Jason shares our passion for accelerating cancer research, so we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to Flatiron.”

“I am delighted to be joining a company with such a focused and inspiring mission of serving cancer patients,” said Jason Harinstein. “After working with Flatiron’s co-founders Nat and Zach at Google, I am thrilled to be reunited with them professionally to support the company as it continues to bring value to oncology care providers and researchers.”

Prior to Groupon, Jason was a senior member of the Corporate Development team at Google, where he identified and executed strategic acquisitions and investments. In his six years at Google, Jason oversaw notable deals including those with DoubleClick, Feedburner, and Invite Media, Flatiron’s co-founders’ former company, acquired by Google in 2010. He also played an important role in developing Google’s display advertising business. Jason received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University and his MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
