Hear from our community
Flatiron’s career development perks are amazing. Particularly our external learning allowance which has helped me strengthen my professional skill set by enrolling in a skillshare account and taking a virtual class on typography.

With the ability to work from home, I now spend mornings walking my children to school when I otherwise would have been commuting. Similarly, a few days per week, I close my laptop early to coach my son’s baseball team.

Our learn, teach, grow philosophy is a core part of Flatiron that I find a lot of value in. From honing my technical craft alongside more experienced engineers to working on stretch projects that challenge me—I am constantly motivated to grow myself and those who come after me.

One of my favorite benefits about working at Flatiron is hybrid work. Since I can be intentional on when to collaborate in-person, I feel motivated when I come into our NYC office. Being able to stay home on days when I need to focus or just stay in the comfort of my space makes me feel like I'm in an environment that supports me and my working style.

Flatiron’s hybrid work culture allows remote workers like myself ultimate flexibility. Although I am not based in NYC I have plenty of opportunities to connect with my team during our weekly stand up meetings via Zoom and our many slack channels that allow us to have open lines of communication across various projects. Whether I am in Chicago, NYC or exploring a new city, I never miss a beat due to Flatiron’s commitment to investing in their people, tools, and culture!

On days I commute to the NYC office I spend my time collaborating in huddle spaces with colleagues from various disciplines and initiatives, catching-up with teammates over lunch or an office-brewed-latte on our communal couches, and finally participating in an ERG or office-sponsored event or happy hour. A day spent in the office leaves me with a great sense of fulfillment—a cornerstone of my Flatiron experience.
