Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Because every person matters.

Celebrating the whole human experience

At Flatiron, we’re committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). That means we work to establish equitable systems and processes that center on inspiring individuals to feel psychologically safe, professionally actualized, and connected—so we can work together to create a world where technology and science close the gap between care and research.

As a global company, our vision is to create long-term, sustainable support that celebrates the diverse cultures represented in teams around the world, empowers employees to be their most authentic selves, and contributes to our business objectives.

Our goal is to create an equitable and inclusive space where employees feel a sense of belonging and support in embracing innovation to solve problems that matter. We have numerous stories that reflect the art of the possible as it relates to career journeys at Flatiron. Ultimately, we work everyday to cultivate a culture where employees know these opportunities are possible, but more importantly accessible regardless of any potential barriers they may face.

Recognizing that we’re better together

Our workforce is stronger when we bring together people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are open to all—including allies—and offer a place for people to share their experiences, support each other, develop leadership skills, and drive positive change.
The mission: To build a community of trust for women and their allies that is responsive to the specific needs and challenges that women face at Flatiron. We aim to build a space where members are engaged and inspired to participate, fostering loyalty and mutual support.
The mission: To facilitate professional development, community building, inclusion, representation, and leadership for Black employees and their allies at Flatiron, empowering every employee to fulfill their fullest potential.
The mission: To create space for those with roots in the South Asian countries of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives. We aim to build community and allyship through sharing traditions and cultures.
The mission: To build a community for Jewish people and their allies that celebrates culture and traditions, and supports their communities in times of need. Shalom Flatiron is not a religious group; we focus on celebrating and connecting with all aspects of Jewish culture and community.
The mission: To create an empathetic and intersectional community for people with disabilities and their allies. We aim to improve accessibility by sharing resources, raising awareness of obstacles to equal access, and advocating for the inclusion of all disabled employees and populations that Flatiron serves.
Next Generation
The mission: To enable members to excel at their jobs as parents and Flatiron employees by providing personal support through our network, sharing parenting resources, and creating corporate awareness of parenting-related concerns.
The mission: To build a community where LGBTQ+ employees across Flatiron can connect and celebrate the full spectrum of queer identities. We aim to create a space where members and allies are engaged and inspired to participate in events and explorations of queer culture and issues.
The mission: To create a safe space for those who identify as part of the Latino/a/e/x and Hispanic community. We recognize that the Latino/a/e/x and Hispanic community is hugely diverse, intersectional, and anchors a deep sense of cultural connectedness, and we celebrate our differences and similarities. This is also a place for sharing, community-building, allyship, and more.
The mission: To foster a community for Asian and Pacific Islander (API) employees at Flatiron to make connections across the company and celebrate the multiplicities of API culture and identity. We aim to support API organizations addressing issues in our communities through volunteering and fundraising, building long-lasting relationships to make a greater impact.

Our mission at Flatiron is to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. So by default, our mission is one of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our ERGs help us to support our goal of having a workplace that reflects the diversity of the many people living with cancer.

Challenging the status quo

Flatiron is dedicated to helping our employees grow as individuals and as a team. We know our customers benefit from collaborating with a diverse workforce that reflects the communities where they live and work. After all, cancer affects the lives of people from every background. That's why we offer global inclusion programming that allows us to have vulnerable and uncomfortable discussions with one another, in order to grow and gain perspective.

What, Why, and How Conversation Series

Featuring Flatiron voices and perspectives, this conversation series encourages real, authentic conversations about topics that may, at times, be uncomfortable to discuss. Our hope is that these exchanges encourage brave dialogue, foster understanding, and ultimately cultivate a sense of belonging.

Resilience Circles: Belonging & Well-Being in the Workplace

Mandala’s theory of change is that DEI training and well-being programs need to go hand in hand for either to be effective. Hear Flatiron employees share their experience.

Creating a more accessible workplace: A talk with Meryl K. Evans

We had the pleasure of having a talk with Meryl Evans, a professional speaker, on accessibility, inclusion, and lived experiences as a person with disabilities in the realm of marketing, business, and technology.

Generations in the workplace with Raven Solomon

For the first time in history, there are 4–5 generations working alongside one another. Raven helped us gain a deeper understanding of generational characteristics, how they may show up in the workplace, and techniques for communicating more effectively with members of different generations.

I believe that driving innovation and health equity is linked to our ability to ensuring Flatiron is a company and culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion. By ensuring that our team reflects the diverse persons living with cancer, we can better understand and address the unique health needs of all patients. Only through a commitment to both health equity and DEI can we achieve our mission of improving cancer care for everyone.
