Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Because every person matters.

Celebrating the whole human experience

At Flatiron, we’re committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). That means we work to establish equitable systems and processes that center on inspiring individuals to feel psychologically safe, professionally actualized, and connected—so we can work together to create a world where technology and science close the gap between care and research.

As a global company, our vision is to create long-term, sustainable support that celebrates the diverse cultures represented in teams around the world, empowers employees to be their most authentic selves, and contributes to our business objectives.

Our goal is to create an equitable and inclusive space where employees feel a sense of belonging and support in embracing innovation to solve problems that matter. We have numerous stories that reflect the art of the possible as it relates to career journeys at Flatiron. Ultimately, we work everyday to cultivate a culture where employees know these opportunities are possible, but more importantly accessible regardless of any potential barriers they may face.

Recognizing that we’re better together

Our workforce is stronger when we bring together people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are open to all—including allies—and offer a place for people to share their experiences, support each other, develop leadership skills, and drive positive change.

Our mission at Flatiron is to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. So by default, our mission is one of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our ERGs help us to support our goal of having a workplace that reflects the diversity of the many people living with cancer.

GLOBAL INCLUSION PROGRAMMING

Challenging the status quo

Flatiron is dedicated to helping our employees grow as individuals and as a team. We know our customers benefit from collaborating with a diverse workforce that reflects the communities where they live and work. After all, cancer affects the lives of people from every background. That's why we offer global inclusion programming that allows us to have vulnerable and uncomfortable discussions with one another, in order to grow and gain perspective.

What, Why, and How Conversation Series

Featuring Flatiron voices and perspectives, this conversation series encourages real, authentic conversations about topics that may, at times, be uncomfortable to discuss. Our hope is that these exchanges encourage brave dialogue, foster understanding, and ultimately cultivate a sense of belonging.

Resilience Circles: Belonging & Well-Being in the Workplace

Mandala’s theory of change is that DEI training and well-being programs need to go hand in hand for either to be effective. Hear Flatiron employees share their experience.

Creating a more accessible workplace: A talk with Meryl K. Evans

We had the pleasure of having a talk with Meryl Evans, a professional speaker, on accessibility, inclusion, and lived experiences as a person with disabilities in the realm of marketing, business, and technology.

Generations in the workplace with Raven Solomon

For the first time in history, there are 4–5 generations working alongside one another. Raven helped us gain a deeper understanding of generational characteristics, how they may show up in the workplace, and techniques for communicating more effectively with members of different generations.

I believe that driving innovation and health equity is linked to our ability to ensuring Flatiron is a company and culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion. By ensuring that our team reflects the diverse persons living with cancer, we can better understand and address the unique health needs of all patients. Only through a commitment to both health equity and DEI can we achieve our mission of improving cancer care for everyone.
